Troubleshooting common errors

Fixes for the most common error messages and unexpected behaviours.

Updated 2026-04-25

If you hit something unexpected, scan this list before contacting support.

"Workspace not found" when clicking a link

You're logged in but the URL points to a workspace you no longer have access to (someone removed you, or you're using a stale browser tab from a different session).

Fix: Use the workspace switcher (top-left) to pick a workspace you currently have access to.

"Bank feed disconnected"

Open banking connections expire periodically (typically every 90 days for AU CDR). Ledgable shows the disconnected state on the Bank Feeds page.

Fix: Settings → Bank Feeds → click Reconnect next to the affected account. Re-authorise via your bank's CDR consent screen. Historical transactions are preserved; only new transactions stop arriving until reconnected.

"AI suggestion failed" badge on a transaction

Possible causes:

  • Budget cap reached. Settings → AI shows current spend vs cap. Either wait until next month (cap resets on the 1st) or increase the cap (Professional and Firm only).
  • Workspace opted out. Settings → AI → Classification toggle. If off, no suggestions are made.
  • API key issue. Internal — contact support if this persists across multiple workspaces.
  • Even when AI fails, you can still classify the transaction manually using the Account dropdown.

"Trial Balance not balanced" red banner

This means is_balanced = false on the Trial Balance — the sum of debits and the sum of credits differ by more than $0.01.

Cause: Almost always indicates a journal entry was posted that bypassed the standard posting service. Phase 1A invariants (INV-1 to INV-7) make this nearly impossible through normal use, so seeing it means something is wrong at the data layer. Fix: Stop further posting. Contact support with the workspace ID and the as-of date. We'll investigate and reconcile.

    CSV import errors

    Slow page load

The Reports page in particular can take 5-10 seconds for large workspaces. We're optimising. Until then:

  • Filter to a smaller date range.
  • Hide zero-balance accounts on the Trial Balance.
  • Run reports during off-peak hours (Sundays mornings AU time are the fastest).
  • "Session expired"

Sessions last 30 days. After that you'll need to log in again. If you're being kicked out more frequently, check that cookies are enabled and that you're not in a private/incognito window (those expire on close).

    Still stuck?

If your issue isn't here, use the Help → Contact support form (or email [help@ledgable.co](mailto:help@ledgable.co)). Include:

  • Your workspace name (not the slug)
  • Approximate time the issue happened
  • A screenshot if visual
  • The exact error message text if any
  • Median response time is under 4 hours during AEST business hours.
